Tumour radiobiology beyond fractionation

Historically it has been shown repeatedly that single high doses of radiation do not allow a therapeutic differential between tumor and critical normal tissues but dose fractionation does. The purpose of conventional dose fractionation is to increase dose to the tumor while preserving normal tissue function. Tumors are generally irradiated with 2Gy dose per fraction delivered daily to a more or...

Anti – Tumour Activity of an Ayurvedic Oil Preparation

An ayurvedic oil preparation containing flowers of ixora coccinea and cortus sativum was subjected to an animal experimentation to find out how far it is efficient in preventing the development of Dalton's lymphoma as solid tumour. The oil was applied after injecting the cells and we found it could retard the development of tumour and arrest further development of already formed tumour.

Tumour imaging by the detection of fibrin clots in tumour stroma using an anti-fibrin Fab fragment

The diagnosis of early and aggressive types of cancer is important for providing effective cancer therapy. Cancer-induced fibrin clots exist only within lesions. Previously, we developed a monoclonal antibody (clone 102-10) that recognizes insoluble fibrin but not fibrinogen or soluble fibrin and confirmed that fibrin clots form continuously in various cancers. Here, we describe the development...

The in vitro and in vivo anti-tumour activity of N-AcMEL-(Fab')2 conjugates.

To increase the accessibility of drug-antibody complexes to tumours and to decrease non-specific binding via Fc receptors N-acetyl-melphalan (N-AcMEL) was conjugated to F(ab')2 fragments. These fragments were synthesised by pepsin degradation of IgG MoAb. Up to 20 molecules of N-AcMEL could be successfully coupled to each F(ab')2 fragment (compared with 25 molecules/intact IgG) with retention o...
